Matt Ownby

Matt Ownby holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Western Michigan University, and Masters degrees in Music Performance and Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he later served as Adjunct Professor of Percussion. He also holds a Masters Degree in Education Administration from the University of Michigan. His performance credits include The Four Tops, The Temptations, Mary Wilson, Martha Reeves, and Elton John. He has also performed with the Nevada Symphony Orchestra, Las Vegas Pops Orchestra, Nevada Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Henderson Civic Symphony, The Las Vegas Percussion Quartet, The Fremont Street Percussionists, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, and the World Champion Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Ownby’s awards include National Finalist in the MTNA Collegiate Recital Competition in Washington D.C., and D.C.I. Solo Multiple-Percussion World Champion. International highlights of his career include Guest Artist Performances in Mexico City, and the publication of eight compositions for percussion with Dutch Music Partners.

Matt Ownby teaches music in the Novi School District in Novi Michigan, and currently serves as the Music Adjudicator Caption Head for the Michigan Competing Band Association. He is an active composer and music arranger for marching bands and competitive drumlines across the United States. Matt is a professionally endorsed percussion artist for Pearl Drums, Sabian Cymbals, ProMark Drumsticks, and Evans Drumheads.
